A Principles and Values-Centered Curriculum Integration and Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop

Last April 24-26, 2019, a 3-day intensive stay-in seminar-workshop titled "THE TIPPING POINT, ON REVERSE? : Living Out Learning Plans Within and Beyond Pre K-12 Classrooms in Asia”, a Principles and Values-Centered Curriculum Integration and Capacity Building Hands-on Exercise, was held in the Malate Catholic School-International Regenerative Development Center (MCS-IRDC).
This seminar-workshop is one of the many initiatives to mitigate the impact of climate change in response to the call of caring for our common home. It is particularly addressed to the stewards of children and youth, the managers of the Pre K-12 programs in the Philippines and countries in Southeast and South Asia, as all subjects int he Pre K-12 conducted at the service of caring for our common home, steeped with values of MakaDiyos, MakaTao, MakaBayan, and MakaKalikasan.
Its general objective is to integrate Laudato Si' Principles and Climate Change Awareness in the Curriculum of Pre K-12 Schools through the following:
- Establish a scientifically pooled and easily updated database that provide a good profile of Pre K-12 program managers in Asia, that can serve as a reference for human resource formation and continuing curriculum integration capacity building in the care of our planet Earth;
- Enhance the competencies of Pre K-12 program managers and teachers through documented and shared multiple intelligences-based teaching and learning strategies and techniques in engaging children and youth to be aware of and fulfill their roles as stewards of human communities and the environment; and
- Form a curriculum integration critical mass of trainer-facilitators in Asia who can engage Pre K-12 program managers and teachers in a continuing search for and sharing of multiple intelligences-action research-based strategies and techniques in facilitating the implementation of learning plans at the service of protecting and preserving the beauty of God's Creation.
The event started with a celebration of Holy Mass by Most Rev. Teodoro C. Bacani Jr., D.D., together with Rev. Fr. Elpidio D. Biliran Jr. and Fr. Solomon A. Jardinero.
